Permaculture Design Certificate

We’re excited to announce our first Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) at Djaning. After teaching numerous PDCs at other venues, co-teaching with some of permaculture’s greats, applying the theory for over a decade on our own patch, we feel we’re ready to share all we’ve learned thus far.

The 72+ hour Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) at Djaning is structured over an 11-week period. Most face to face PDCs are a two week long intensive, whilst we enjoy this structure, we have found that a slower approach allows for a deeper dive into the maze of rabbit holes that is permaculture. Coming together once a week enables participants to integrate new and ancient wisdom into their daily lives, taking on information at a more digestible pace more attuned to our busy lives.

This course takes a multifaceted approach with diverse projects to suit all learning styles. Combining action learning, design projects, facilitated group yarns and more, all gently guided by your experienced facilitators. Throughout this immersive eleven-week journey, we will delve into major global issues and gain insight into accessible, practical solutions that can be readily applied in our daily lives. With an emphasis on home-scale, practical knowledge, this course aims to inspire transformation in both individuals and their perspectives on the world around them.

Dates: Saturdays from September 6th to November 15th (with a two day camp out in week 9 – 1st & 2nd November)

Here’s a couple of lovely Testimonials from previous PDCs:

A beautiful example of living Permaculture
Laura, Fionn and family are a beautiful example of living Permaculture. When I met these guys I said to myself ‘Dreams can come true!’ – They gave up city life and found their place, living amongst nature, using the exact same principles they teach.
I find Laura and Fionn to be both inspirational and passionate teachers. With the vast amount of knowledge they endowed upon us I can now confidently go and apply the same principles at home and inspire friends and family to do the same.

I want to thank you guys soooo much for opening my eyes and allowing me to begin the journey of mistakes, boo boos, start overs, redesigns, happy places, balance, yield, sharing, latin (god forbid!), integrating, learning, teaching and giving me the confidence to start. I think the most valuable lesson I will take with me is the observational skill set that I now possess when looking at nature. The ground cover, the understory, the treetops and all stacking in between. The sheltering, the successional behaviour. It’s something I can’t unlearn and it will always be with me. It’s a metaphor for architecture, relationships and our beloved nature. And you guys taught me that.
I also want to thank you for your compassion, sense of ridiculous and sense of humour. For showing me a Divine part of the world that I probably would not have discovered if not for doing this particular course with you guys. For teaching in a such a way that it didn’t actually matter whether I was from the same climate. We had Victorians, New South Welsh peeps, Kiwis, Tasmanians, Canadians, French, South Africans and Germans. And all of us walked away knowing that we could apply the principles in our home climate. Actually, any climate for that matter. And not just apply principles to nature, but apply them to ourselves… the humans… our lives on Earth… what a bloody gift!
